What Padashala is

Padashala (പാഠശാല, "a place of learning") is a free study website for school students in Kerala who follow the state syllabus prepared by SCERT Kerala. We started in 2020 with a simple idea: a Class 10 student sitting in a village in Kerala should be able to open a phone, search for a chapter, and find a clear, correct, well-organised note written for exactly the textbook they are studying from.

Our first focus was Physics for SSLC (Class 10), Plus One and Plus Two. That is still the heart of the site. But students kept asking us the same practical questions: "When is the exam?", "How does Plus One admission work?", "What can I study after Plus Two?" So Padashala is slowly growing into a place that covers the whole journey of a Kerala state-syllabus student: chapter notes, solved question papers, exam news and career guidance.

Everything on Padashala is free to read. There is no login, no paywall and no app to install.

Who writes here

Padashala is written and maintained by Ridhul Lal T R, who founded the site in 2020.

Ridhul holds an M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur. Physics, science and engineering have been his favourite subjects for as long as he can remember, and teaching is the part he enjoys most: taking an idea that looks hard on a textbook page and explaining it until it feels obvious. Padashala began as a way to bring that kind of explanation to students across Kerala, in the syllabus and the language they actually study in.

Every note on this site is written by a person who has read the SCERT textbook chapter, worked through the problems and thought about how a student is likely to get confused. When we invite guest writers in future, their name and background will appear on the posts they write.

What you will find

  • Chapter notes for SSLC Physics, Plus One Physics and Plus Two Physics, organised chapter by chapter in the same order as the SCERT textbook, with diagrams, formulas and worked examples.
  • Solved question papers for Kerala SSLC and Higher Secondary examinations, explained question by question so that you learn the method, not just the answer.
  • Exam news such as timetables, result dates, admission schedules and changes in exam pattern, always with a link to the official source.
  • Career guidance for the two big decision points in a Kerala student's life: what to do after SSLC, and what to do after Plus Two.
  • Study tips on how to revise, how to write answers for marks and how to use your time in the last weeks before an exam.

Why we write in Malayalam too

Most of our readers study in Malayalam-medium or bilingual classrooms. A student may know the Physics but not have the English words to read a note comfortably, and that should never be the reason a student falls behind. So we publish our important notes in both English and Malayalam. Each pair is written separately in its own language, not machine-translated, and the two versions are linked to each other so you can switch whenever you like. Scientific terms are given in English in brackets so that you can recognise them in your textbook and in the exam paper.

How our content is made

  • Original writing. Every post on Padashala is written by us. We do not copy notes from other websites, guide books or coaching materials.
  • Checked against the SCERT textbook. Notes follow the current SCERT Kerala textbook for that class and are checked against it before publishing. Where the textbook and a popular shortcut disagree, we go with the textbook, because that is what the examiner follows.
  • Our own diagrams. Circuit diagrams, ray diagrams and graphs are drawn by us for this site.
  • Dates shown. Each post shows when it was published and when it was last updated, so you know how current the information is.
  • Official sources for news. Exam dates, admission schedules and results are reported only from official websites, and we link to them. Please always confirm dates and rules on the official site before acting on them.
  • Corrections welcome. If you find a mistake, tell us. We fix it and note the update on the post.
